Actually….I do not know. Peg strikes me as…manipulative. I kind of wonder if the ditz thing is all just an act. You know, the whole “People expect me to be like this, so I will give them what they expect, while I secretly destroy the lives of anyone I do not like, and help out the people who are actually crazy enough to try and be nice to me.” You know, kind of like how she seems instantly liking Luna because Luna thought she was funny.
She has money, and grew up with power and influence at her beck and call. Of course she is manupulative. That doesn’t mean she isn’t crazy, but crazy people can be smart and conniving as well.
And thus Peg’s sense of humor continues to roll out.
I don’t read anything more sinister into her quip than “Anybody who starts calling on me on a regular basis has to pay for it somehow!”
