Thought it might be good to do something to reference scale.
The shopping cart in the March 6, 2011 comic (the previous strip) was a little large. Most carts in the US are 3’2” to 3’6” at the handle. This one is about 3’9”.
If you ask Ace, he’ll say he’s 6’1”, but that’s maybe if he stands up straight and does some stretching exercises.
I’ve often said Rocky was 6’3”, but she’s obviously 6’4”. She used to be a full head taller than Ace, when he was still 18, so maybe Luna’s got another inch or two of growth coming.
At 5’7”, Carly is actually at the average height of a Japanese man.
Jaz is about 5’4” and right at the average height for an American woman.
Poor Luna doesn’t even hit 5′. No wonder she likes heels.

It looks like a police lineup. Maybe Ace and Maddie got caught buying beer for a minor after all, and everyone got brought in for questioning.
The average height of the American woman is 5’4?!?
Wow – I am shocked, I figured that number was 40 years old, but wikipedia agrees with you.
… actually, I don’t think I can believe it. I’ve never encountered a normal adult below 5’4ish, so I don’t see how that can be the average.
Not that its important.
Guess I’m not normal. (I’m 5’3″)
My mother-in-law is even shorter.
Less than 5 feet. Mom used to be 5’2″ but has shrunk. Sisters are under 5’2″, I think. I know other teeny ladies.
Last I’d heard, the average height for an American woman was 5’6″, though that was a while ago and I may be mistaken.
Mind you, my aunt is well under that height at 4’11″. And much like Luna, she wears heels so she can be 5’2″.
Has ever since I can remember, actually.
According to the health center, I’m 4’11.5″. My brother says I get a “pity half inch” to make me 5′.
My boyfriend just says I’m pocketsized for convenience!
