I just finished watching Brazil, by Terry Gilliam. I was never able to catch it in the theaters (I was pretty much stuck on an Air Force base at the time) and I doubt it ever made it into the AFEES theater circulation. I started to watch it once in Korea, but got interrupted in the first half hour. It really hadn’t grabbed me at the time, so I didn’t get back to it.
But over and over I kept hearing what a great film it was. A masterful work of satire and dark comedy. So when I saw it was on Blu-ray with Netflix I added it to the queue. Might as well see what the fuss was about. After all, I’m a long time Monty Python fan and loved many of his other films, particularly Time Bandits.
Dear Terry Gilliam, you owe me 132 minutes.
