Hmm, no submissions for a TMI “Mary Sue” yet… Oh well, there’s no rush.
BUT…
Just out of curiosity what fictional universe would you want to be in and in what role?
For my example, I lean more toward David Weber’s Honor Harrington series. Yes, ahead of Star Wars (original theatrical version) and Star Trek (original series). Love interest, of course. After all, there’s no one that could out Ace Chief Petty Officer Horace Harkness. But I do have a treecat story in mind…

I would want to be in the Firefly universe…doing the transport jobs (legal, or not) leading (or as a member of) a quirky but competent crew.
Final Fantasy VI. In a heartbeat. Platonic love interest, of course.
Then again…I’ve tried to do a slight experiment on how to take the key elements of the story and then switch as many elements to shift what’s essentially self-insertion fan fiction into a chapter from a much larger story that makes homage towards a story I enjoy quite a bit.
Of course, that makes the concept ineligible for the idea of Mary Sue, but considering it’s been done several times, it’s fair game.
Mysterious Cities of Gold, flying around in the Condor, while still ten years old. Friend to the kids who fly it in the series.
Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosiverse series, without question. As either a Barayarran, or a Jacksonian attempt to mimic the engineering of a Cetagandan ba.
Where would I want to live? Probably Earth, Star Trek version there of. It is a nice place to live, where peace and freedom rule. Who needs “excitement” and such. There’s usually a lot of running and screaming and shooting in that whole gig. See Star Wars.
Perhaps that is why, when I began writing my own stuff, the Jack of Harts universe was similar to Star Trek in the “we did things right” way. The “we are a place where people would like to live” way. There is conflict of course, and the main character is in the middle of much of it. After all, a story about peace and no conflict would get boring.
Honestly, this is something I like about TMI as well. It seems a nice place to live.
I don’t like reading dystopias where everyone is miserable. And with the popularity of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek, I think I am not alone.
Vorkosigan and Weber both have their merits – Ringo’s Looking Glass series is appealing too – despite the alien invasion.
Modessit’s Octoganal Raven and Gravity Dreams perhaps, The nanite cultures that require talent/ability to mak full use of.
Garriety’s Narbonic/Skin-horse I’d hope to be on the madder side of the spectrum.
Lazarus Long.
I’m still looking for an answer to my previous question (who uses what pronouns) since it’s kind of important for my short story
I totally wish I were in the Fireflly universe. Really.
Macross series as one of the Valkyrie Pilots, maybe even switch genders and be a Quadrono pilot (Female Zentraedi Powered armor, aka Meltrani), Star Wars (and of course as a jedi, but since ive already RPed it for years, its no real biggie there. i did create a ‘mary sue’ type character for a writing project for T Campbell’s Fans! webcomic for the user created content, it just stalled on the final portion. the gist of it, is he’s supposed to be a ‘mary sue’ since the project is titled ‘fansfiction’. of course, any established series one roleplays in, is a kind of mary sue (Onyx, Ticktock, Seth and Sailor Psychosis for my sailor Moon Rpg; Askari Vintarran for Star Wars, Amronaroke appearing in two Revolutionary girl Utena rpgs, and a couple of fan-fics i started to write as an exploratory character.)
as for a mary sue, character for TMI? where can we submit ideas for it? i had one involving Jazz, Rosa, and a bid for a full cybernetic leg (full prosthetic, not just the peg leg she uses atm.) but that means calling in favors from a certain star-traveling demi-god.
I’d enjoy any of the following worlds:
Ed ‘Doc’ Smith’s Lensmen or Skylark series

Stephen Donaldson’s ‘The Land’ from Thomas Covenant series
The original Spinward Marches from GDW Traveller 2D6 version

im actually in the process of writing my own novel. it helps me to look at some of my favorite novel writers and manga writers for inspration and/or how their style plays out. i truly do love authors who can add a witty sense of humor to any scene in their writings even if its a very serious time, it just make the story more lighthearted and balaces out the darker or more emotionaly tense moments and can be a great addition to any smart and witty character.
so to answer i could see myself most in the world of the original full metal alchemist.
