I’ve been dealing with missing and corrupted files since my previous mainboard barfed.

I should have known. It was an MSI board again, and for the same problem. MSI is SO off my list. I’m not even going to send it in for warranty. I expect they’d find some reason not to replace this one either. (They cited a tiny little mark on the edge of the previous board for not replacing or fixing it. I had to use a magnifying glass to see it. There’s NO way that caused the problem.)

It’s about time for a clean install anyway. I’ve been keeping the same install of Windows 7 going for years, but I think it’s time to switch to Windows 8.1.

Copying files to an extra drive, just to be safe, is taking a while. For some reason the disk cloning too hangs (probably on damaged files). Might be another day or so before I’m up and running on Win 8.

Might miss a post or two in the mean time.
