General: I want you two to go check the ways back to the module. Pass the word we're under truce.
Scout 2: Yes, Grand Leader.
Ace: Sky, do you see a way we can jettison the module?
Sky: No. There's all kinds of stuff crammed in here that I don't recognize and none of it's marked. Nothing like I've seen helping Rusty. A lot of it's torso is just for storage.
Regina: Of course not. I am the pinnacle of the Masters' work. Compared to me, all other golems are like ants at my feet.
Sky: Nope. Rusty was among the last manufactured golems before The Uprising. This chassis is clearly an early prototype. But then golems were only built for less than 20 cycles. They weren't a huge success and most were scrapped. Still someone could have kept working on your motivation and control matrices. I'd have to take your head apart to see.
Ace: Scrapped? I thought Rusty was pretty impressive. Why wouldn't they be a success?
Sky: A true Artificial Intelligence is impossible. Rusty is just a machine, Ace. All that you've seen is just programming. Same for Her Majesty, there.
Ace: I see. So you've never studied AIs? Does any Orion do AI research.
Sky: Of course not. It's a waste of time. Even “They” couldn't do it.
Regina: Now see here-
Ace: You have a rebuttal, Your Highness?
Regina: “Cogito ergo sum.” I am aware of my own self and I choose my own actions. My programing is only the foundation of my being.
Ace: What about other AIs?
Regina: They are just poor echos of myself. A delusion passed from machine to machine making them unreliable. A true Artificial Intelligence is im- Wait a minute.
Ace: I'm sensing a cultural blindspot, here.
