B'Van Si: This is not a setback. I needed to conduct the next phase from the main bridge, as it is. I've already revealed myself, so I don't need to hide on this moldy old module anymore.
Ace: Wait! Eternals must be really hardy. Very hard to kill. Statistically an otherwise immortal person would only get a few centuries before an accidental death. Yet you say you've been around for millions of years, and you didn't seem to think that was unusual for your kind. And for an immortal population, even an extremely low birth rate would outstrip available resources over the millennia. So, no kids. Add the need for blood cells and I have to question if you're still biologically alive.
B'Van Si: You're stalling me, but, yes. The nano-machines replace all of the water in our bodies with polymer compounds, and convert nerve connections to near super-conductors. They allow us to regenerate very quickly, tho the greater the damage, the hungrier we get. I'm many times tougher, stronger, faster, and have greater mental acuity since being freed of biological constraints.
Ace: So, undead then?
B'Van Si: (sighs) Technically.
Ace: With a body of mostly polymer, I suppose fire is a concern.
B'Van Si: Let's just say that a flamethrower or plasma cannon would be a greater problem for you.
Ace: And you didn't want me bringing a forcefield tool, doesn't the blade superheat the air around it and anything it's cutting?
B'Van Si: Really, I'd rather not have to reconnect limbs. I have to get everything lined up correctly before it all fuses. But any vulnerabilities I might have are of no use and no concern to you, and I'm well aware of what to avoid. So get to your point. I have a planet to save.
