Ace: So they're OK?
Shinobi: They prosper. You will see them again, but you will not know them. They will become dear friends.
Ace: That's good news.
Shinobi: And they will bear you many fine daughters each.
Ace: Sat what now?!
Shinobi: Just kidding. Got any more spicy pork rinds? They're crunchy fun.
Ace: Are you going to leave them scattered all over my room again?
Shinobi: No promises. I am just a kitten.

Now that is an interesting conversation! So what is Ace going to have for guardian angels? Surely not Luna’s late departed parents? Hopefully not Mercy and her cohorts?
What does he need of guardian angels? He’s got KITTENS.
Luna is Ace’s half-sister by Father, Luna’s Mother…I’d exorcise her myself!
Looks like I called part of this scene right.
Typical cat. Gets what she wants, ie Ace out of there, but doesn’t bother to clear his name in the process. She just proved she could have.
Of course, where would the story be if she did? ^_~
And as far as the pork rinds go… a kitten’s gotta do what a kitten’s gotta do… yum!
My previous cat’s addiction was cheese – even mac&cheeze powder would make him come running.
We’ve been careful w/ the current 3 – no human food, but they know the treat jar is on the counter so they bug us if we stand in the kitchen too long.
My kittens have already gotten scattered bits of human food. They like their dry food, and have scarfed down the samplings of wet food they’ve gotten…but scorn the kitty treats. Odd.
My previous cat was addicted to the water from my bathroom sink. He’d stand on the counter and lap it all up, it was hilariously cute. He would also eat almost anything we offered him. I think we only lived with him as long as we did because he willed it.
This whole thing was full of win. Especially the last line. “No promises. I am just a kitten.”
His EX-Sholder Spirits will be come friends … so cool.
But will they ever return to their Spirit form?
Mean while …
I see it in my mind … the kitten is normal size. Once Mercy brings a soul into her ream, it is reduced in size … to save space. There’s a lot of souls to take care of.
Ohhh, Ace really has stepped in the proverbial “stinky pile.” All this time, he’s been (unknowingly) bribing high-ranked spiritual entities…And they’ve been accepting his bribes.
What about the “authorities” ABOVE the kittens & Mama Wata? What if THEY find out about the exchange of bribes and favors? Ace may be seeing the shorter-term benefits NOW, but what about the long run?
And what about Duece’s involment as a “temporal loop?” How do the HIGHEST authorities of “the universe” look upon the creation of such temporal anomalies? I’m beginning to pity Agent Mercy’s place in all of this?
The mind boggles!
Don’t sweat it. These high-ranked spiritual entities were reencarnated as kittens as a reward, they are on vacation. Ace isn’t bribing them, he’s serving them Mai Tais on the beach and they are just tipping the waiter.
Exactly. Shinobi told Ace himself that there are VERY few Entities higher than a cat! Even Death had her hand stayed by his cuteness.
Isn’t Maddie’s Monster basically Nyarlathotep Jr? I feel as if it would be very bad for any higher being to try interfering with Ace.
Okay, last line, “No promises, I’m just a kitten.” Is than no promises about the mess spicy pork rinds make on a bedroom floor? Or on the “just kidding” line about the new and improved Spooky and Cleo bearing him many fine daughters? They’re both dark skinned now and Jaz has foreseen Ace with a beautiful black girl child calling him daddy…
BWAH HA HA HAH…
That would be an interesting relationship…Of course considering what’s going on in the house, not that unusual.
Actually, I believe that child’s already on the way.
The daughters comment reminds me of Jaz’s vision from ages ago about dark-skinned children calling Ace “Daddy.” Hmm…..
Wonder if it’s a relevant question for Ace to ask them if they copulate or lay eggs now…
Copulating and egg-laying are not mutually exclusive. It works for most reptiles. Not to mention John Carter and Dejah Thoris.
