An online comic about Ace. A young geek that's too nice for his own good. All he wants is a regular life and a regular girlfriend. But he knows that isn't going to happen. – CGI – Adult situations. Artistic nudity. Not suitable for children or Fundies.
It's the suffering and grief that I hate most of all, especially when children are involved.
But death is the end of suffering. Freedom when the body can take no more. The first step of the next great adventure.
It's not the dead or dying that I pity. But the ones we leave behind. There's scant comfort I can offer for the loss of one's partner of decades. No explanation for the child that's lost a parent. No cheer for friends watching their numbers dwindle.
That isn't what the dead would want of us. They want you to remember the good times spent together. They want you to laugh when reminded of the joys you've shared. They want you to tell the proud tales of mutual adventures, or lark at the misadventures. What loved one would want tears shed in their name?
But we cry. We wail. We put on brave faces, or collapse in a corner. Sometimes all at once.
Still, in time, wounds heal. Memories turn from sadness to fondness. The empty place in the heart becomes a well of fond memories. And old friends long gone seem closer than ever before.
So if I hate my job, it's not for having to do it.
