KC: We lost touch with Rocky after graduation, though. We heard from Jaz that she'd been chasing rumors about her mother. None of us knew she had been living on the streets for that year before she met Carly or we'd have taken her in.
Bob: We ran into her again about the time we were opening the shop. She was always good with cars and bikes, so we hired her right away. That turned out well for us all. Even without having gone to a tech school she's a great mechanic, and I don't know when she learned to weld, but her ability there shames me.
Rosa: As you know, I asked to review your offer to give Rocky a share of your business. I found it straightforward, but overly optimistic. The recession's hit you as hard as anyone. For that matter, you've not taken any pay for yourselves in several months.
Bob: I admit that we are counting on being able to trade on Rocky's reputation for building and repairing bike frames, but we've made sure she won't get stuck for any of our prior obligations.
Rosa: Unfortunately, I've reached the conclusion that you really can't afford the offer you've made to Rocky. You risk losing your business, largely from trying to make sure that she won't be left holding the bag for any of your current debts. I'm going to recommend that she decline.
