By popular request, here’s a version of the deleted greeting post by Qar’N (aka Karanda).

Orion’s actually have two names these days. A modern name, frequently derived from Terran culture or features, and its translation or phonetic spelling in Old Orion. The main reason is that most of the essential systems still use Old Orion, but it’s also become a tradition.

Qar’N is named for the fruit, Karanda, popular in Indian cuisine, tho practically unknown to Americans. The Orion qar’n is simply a species of karanda that grows well in the hanging gardens.

Columbia’s Old Orion name is Kul’m’Barra which has a literal translation of Banisher of Evil.

X’s Old Orion name is Aksu, meaning Dangerous.
