Luna: You really believe in souls and all that, don’t you?
Peach: Not so much “all that.” Our most revered figure, The Guide, who led us in rebellion against our Dilmun masters had little use for religion. But he was quite insistent that all beings have a K’a, colored throughout our lives by our deeds and misdeeds. And that the color of our K’a can buoy us up or carry us down in the afterlife. “Open your eyes, not only to shades of gray, not only to all the colors they take in, but also the palettes of spirit, heart and mind, and any darkness in your path will be as passing shadows on the ground.”
Luna: Ka is what The Egyptians called the soul, and that sins put a weight on the soul.
Peach: A coincidence we found interesting. The Guide also described A’ru, a place of eternal safety and plenty. Auru is the Egyptians’ Field of Reeds. And D’at as a kind of hell; like Duat to Egyptians. Some of us believe he may have been an Egyptian taken as a kind of student by one of our old masters. He certainly knew their technology and taught us that none of it was magic, and that they weren’t gods.
Luna: So this Guide is kind of like your Jesus?
Peach: Oh no. He would have hated that. Jesus is our Jesus. Yeshua, that is. X and I, and much of the Imperial Family are Orion New Methodists. It’s more about The Message rather than the mysticism. We like to believe that a nice young man from Galilee tried to teach us to be nicer to each other.
Luna: I think you’d like Grampy.
Peach: Professor Will Jackson? “Truth is found in Faith. It is lost in Dogma.” From his paper on how Inner City religion influences education.
