Some European races tan to a very dark shade. That said, I notice that Larry often looked extremely dark despite having very blond hair. I’m not sure how much is intended by Andy to be the character’s appearance, how much is a lighting effect, and how much is an artifact of the software. Ace’s own light skin could easily be to show that as a geek, he does not spend much of his time nor energy outside where he would potentially acquire a tan.
