An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
She has said she would do anything for him. It would appear that the definition is not just the implied intimacy levels. I’m not suprised, just as Secret Service would take a bullet for the person they are protecting, so will the type of bodyguard Akane perceives herself to be. More she will also, but it goes beyond giving her life for Ace, she will take ridicule to let him save face. A good example is her father letting it appear he was the one to get Akane”s mother pregnant to hide her biological fathers father’s lack of control and infidelity. Bunny ea tee s would be a small price to keep Ace safer.
This is just supposition, but they talked in a few comics about how toxic some of the inks used are, but she may have gotten her tattoos someplace that wasn’t using toxins. If so, the toxin filters would have left her tattoos alone.
Kimi got her tattoos in Korea, from an entirely different (and apparently much less professional) tattooist than Akane and her… aunt? (It’s been a while since I read those sections; I’m drawing a blank) got their Yakuza-adjacent tattoos done.
When you tattoo for Yakuza clans you:
A: get lots and lots of practice doing large and elaborate designs.
B: Know better than to use inks that might be toxic to the recipient (to say nothing of the “cobbled together from a trash pile” composition of Kimi’s black inks). You wouldn’t be doing any more tattoos, that’s for sure (or, you know, breathing.)
I’m now just waiting for Andy to write a scene where… by some nigh-absurd coincidence, it IS necessary for Ace’s protection for somebody to dance naked wearing bunny ears, and Akane, sensing karma at work, rolls her eyes and volunteers.

How is it that Kimi lost her tattoos and Akane kept hers?

On the first incarnation of this story wasn’t there a page showing her in either a playboy bunny suit with ears or her with just the ears only?
The images (plural) were either vote incentives or extras posted to his (forgot the name) art site. They were never part of the main site.
Yes, invotives, believe inspired by this very page
Yes, ‘Akane Photoshoot’, there were 10 in total
It’s. DevientArt.com

Turns out Akane is a GREAT dancer. Who knew?
