Farah: Rusty, I'm going to face facts. I've botched things up beyond anything I could do to help fix. So, I'm running away. Saving my own skin. Do you know that the ship is in danger?
Rusty: Affirmative. Limited data traffic has been coming from Primary Control. In 0.000082 cycles, this ship will attempt landing if control has not been returned to the recognized crew. It will sustain severe structural degradation during re-entry. The probability of a survivable landing is less than .05.
Farah: Once, Ruby, is away, you aren't tied to this bay any longer, are you?
Rusty: I would enjoy more freedom of movement.
Farah: The landers on Bay 1 can dock with lifepods, right? Can you program them to do it on their own? Nearly all of the crew is in pods and the landers would improve their chances and comfort.
Rusty: You are correct in all three cases. I will add that as an immediate tasking.
Farah: And knowing Sky, she's not going to give up until the last minute. Could you try to get her to safety? Even if she objects?
Rusty: That is presently a self-appointed tasking. If it is critical, her objections would have no merit in the matter. I am much stronger than her.
Farah: And, um, it's also clear that you are an extremely valuable resource. So, I'm giving you a directive to make your own safety a priority only second to Sky's. Get the landers deployed only if there is time to do so.
Rusty: Your concern is appreciated, Lady Farah. I would not rush you but for the fact that the sooner you are away, the sooner I can begin.
Farah: So, I'm actually helping?
Rusty: Yes. And if you could send sensor readings of the lifepods, lander programing would be simplified. Do not sell yourself short, Lady Farah. Just now you have undertaken to help, if only second hand. You may yet find more ways to contribute.
