I’m a little behind the curve on privacy policies and cookie notifications. I tried using a subscription service generated privacy policy. It was really thorough and seemed to cover all the bases. But it was also $10 a month and beyond my needs and means.

However, this is an uncommercialized hobbyist site in the United States, not doing business and has no resources set in any other countries. I don’t see how a EU law applies to me, but this represents my best effort to conform to what is becoming a standard.
If you see any errors, let me know, please.
Fortunately, One of the plugins I use now includes a template.
Just as an FYI, the GDPR regulations apply based on the citizen status of who is visiting your website – if a European citizen can access your website, then technically you are subject to the GDPR. Selling goods is only one thing that falls under the rules; saving personal data (like the name and emails for comments, or site analytics that can be tied to a specific individual) also trigger GDPR regulations. It’s also not location based, technically if a French citizen is accessing your site while on vacation in California, his data on this site is subject to GDPR protections.
Basically if you have a site on the internet that gathers visitor information somehow, you are technically governed by GDPR. That being said, the risk for this site is rather low, especially if you can respond to people asking things like “delete all data you have about me” or “what all data have you recorded about me”
I just think it’s an overreach of jurisdiction and imeffective.
It’s not just Europe. California is getting its own version.

California is getting its own version. I tried to provide links in a earlier reply, but the system didn’t like it. If you are interested, do a web search for “California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018”.
Don’t blame me cuz in French, I didn’t vote for GDPR.
