Thank you for all the well wishes
I hope to resume TMI soon.
I have some challenges.
I have forgotten how to spell and type.
Reading and understanding still remains thankfully intact.
And blind in one eye.
Thank you for all the well wishes

What happened? Stroke? Car accident?
From a comment on the previous post:
“This is Andy’s mom telling you what happened. He is recovering from a stroke he had March 27th. He’s been hospitalized but came home yesterday. He’s made a wonderful recovery so far, but still has difficulties typing and speaking. He has all the brain power he always had. It’s just a matter of communicating it. It will take time. He reads just fine, so don’t hesitate to remark.”
So, yeah, stroke.
So there is a “you” in there, but just having difficulty coming out…
Here’s hoping that all these issues are temporary. Keep working on it. I shared what happened to my co-worker in the previous thread, so there is definitely hope.
And, as to spelling and typing: I’m making more mistakes in both categories, but that is just due to the normal: getting older.
As long as there is still a ‘you’ inside, there is still hope
Personally have had more strokes than one person should, and, unfortunately, still around
You and Andy are both too ornery to go yet.
Going to take that as a compliment 😀
Overjoyed that you are still “you”. Familiar with the sensation of what used to be ordinary activities becoming a challenge. Hoping that you find a way of getting the words inside you outside, after my wreck I learned a new word, “aphasia”.
Damn… that word was just on the tip of my tongue… but I couldn’t think of it.
Learnt that word after watching “The Blacklist”, and yeah, forgetting basic words is not fun 🙁
I got nonal aphasia, the inability to place certain nouns, from Dr. House M.D. And I got general aphasia, all words completely scrambled, from that episode of Deep Space Nine. Learning is fun! And terrifying!
Focus on recovering, Andy! We’re anxious to get a new comic, but there’s no new comic without you! Get better, worry less about us, because we’re not going anywhere!
Except its possible doing the comic could speed up his recovery. Doing something he would normally do, that requires the creative process and various other skills, might help his brain more than just resting would.
I’m certain his therapy team will get him there in time. 🙂
Glad to hear you’re still on this side of the veil, Andy. Come back to us when you can.
GoodThoughts on the way for a speedy and uneventful recovery. Hope the various deities in your Subcreation are all supportive and giving you the energy you need!
Fantastic to see you, I will keep coming by and voting for you
Although we’d love to see new comics the fact is your page still sits at number 8 on the Top Web Comics site even after all this time with no new content, so you’ve got to know we love you with or without it. Skenjin may be right that working on a new comic could speed up your recovery and retrain your brain but don’t force it, move at your own pace.
Be well Andy.
Even now TMI is still 8 on the top ten list at TWC.
Dropped to 9 🙁
Up to 7 now.
Best wishes from Denmark for a speedy, and full, recovery!
Finland sends you best wishes on your recovery.
And I join what others have said, we can wait for the strips, we don’t want to wait for the obituary.

Re_”I have some challenges.
I have forgotten how to spell and type.”
I’ll start by saying that I’m not a medical professional in any way-shape-or-form, & my words here are NOT to be mistaken for “Medical Authority”.
That said, it is my heartfelt hope that your various skills, such as Typing & Spelling, are NOT lost, but merely ‘disconnected’. If so, then hopefully new connections can be made, to re-access the regions of the brain where these skills reside. As I understand it, while the external ‘Grey Matter’ has a rather low rate of repair, the underlying ‘White Matter’ has a much more robust ability to regenerate from a damaged state.
Meanwhile:
Don’t worry about us — we are NOT your ‘priority’. YOU are, & don’t you forget it!
As pushy as it feels to try & speak for all of us, let me say that we’ll all be pulling for you, patiently, for as long as you need to take, until you’re ready to once again ‘take up the reins’ of this on-going storytelling adventure.
Please be well.
Speaking as a psychology student, the current evidence is that knowledge is rarely permanently lost and that “disconnected” is a far more common result than previously thought.
All I can say is, Know we’re all pulling for ya to return WHEN you’re healthy enough. But focus on that first. We’ll still be around for ya.
I understand – I’ve had two strokes and have a chronic form of meningitis along with hydrocephalus/intracranial hypertension/pseudotumor cerebri. My best advice is take your time, carry a notebook and pen, let yourself doodle. I’m sorry this happened to you.
I wish you a speedy recovery, and hope you regain much of what you’ve lost. I know some people seem to fully recover and others not so much. May all the well wishes of your fans help you.
I’m so sorry, Andy, yet I’m glad you’re alive. As others have said, take your time.
Just a reminder that your fans are still here praying for you.
Waves to wish you well.
Any news good or bad on the recovery? Some of us just worry when there’s no news one way or the other…
Hope you are improving but no rush. Take it slow and steady. We all miss you.
