Less a known void, more a hidden void. Take a large room, say a basement, put a wall over a small section, wall to wall, and unless you measure the outside of the room and the inside to see if there’s a difference, the space won’t be found.
I can only assume the surveyor missed this because this hidden room was attached to the known basement and not very large.
I believe there are building materials that will block radar from spotting a void.
Okay, maybe there are… BUT were they commonly used in basements built in the 1920s, before the invention of radar (1935)?
