You should change this line to:
“I think someone’s been sleeping in my van.”
Phrased in the past tense that way, it allows that the person might not still be there (but doesn’t exclude the possibility).
Phrased in the present tense, means someone is currently sleeping in the van, so Carly’s question doesn’t make sense.
