GASP! The dreaded J-word! Such foul language!
(At this time, I have two jobs, work 7 days a week, 6.5 hours on my shortest day. In all honestly, I don’t recommend this to anyone! :P)
People ask me, “Got any plans for the weekend?” “Uh… getting up at 6am and going to work. You?”
You’re getting up right about the time I go to bed. My old gig I was working for companies in the Far East, cleaning up their machine-translated docs like ads and user manuals to more conversational English. I was working in their time zone while working from home so their closing time was about 0500 or 0600 my time. And in case you’re wondering I sometimes had problems with words that did not translate in my working doc, and had to contact someone to see if that was a technical term that had to be included in English, or if that was a trade name or something similar, and working their time would takes days off the turnaround for the doc and both increase my pay for that doc and free me up to get started on another doc for more money. So vampire hours meant more money for me. And since I was paid by the document… At my best I was clearing several hundred dollars a month. Then the Pandemic came and the company that was acting as the middleman went under.
