Call Center is not an easy job. It takes a very special personality to be able to do it well, and the patience of a saint to not throw things across the room at various points during your work day.
Also, you have to be the sort of person who likes talking. If you’re more an introvert, and talking to people is Work to you, then having to talk non-stop to strangers for 8 hours is mentally and spiritually exhausting.
I literally made myself ill, trying to hold that job.
From August 2004 until a week before Halloween 2013, I worked in Charter Communication’s internet help center in Louisville, KY, Charter’s largest at the time. A friend of mine from Louisville, Luke S., transferred to the Vancouver, WA, facility to take a senior supervisor’s position. They let me go following a stroke for being too slow. Charter later merged with Time-Warner Cable and a couple of smaller companies to become Spectrum Communications.
This reminds me, I’m missing the early stories involving Ace’s friend Bruno. He was in several of the vote incentives, that were themselves an excellent part of the story.
