Yep, telling the truth (especially selectively picking which items of truth to tell) can be much more effective than lieing. So much so that it is one of the techniques you can use to get around most methods of lie detection.

It is one of the three main ways to lie. Telling the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth, but in such a way nobody believes you. Found the three ways of lying in a book by Arthur C. Clark. The main character, Lazarus Long, was explaining how to do it. If I remember the title correctly, (not saying that I do), it was called “Time Enough for Love”.
