I once had cause to wonder if the people programming the controls for a particular games had ever done the sport involved. I had a skiing simulator on my wii, using the wii fit board to control it. I had been on skiing holidays once or twice a year for twenty five years, plus hundreds of trips to dry ski slopes or indoor snow slopes.
I stand on the board, start the game, move my knees in the direction needed to make a turn and the character on the screen turns in the exact opposite direction and crashes. After a handful of tests with the exact same result, I never played the game again. The last thing I wanted to do was invert my muscle memory before doing the real thing again.
