An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
Another page that confused me a lot on my first read through, due to the very long time since we’ve seen Cleo, and the differing contexts and timeframes, and the changes in her appearance. It’s easier to remember when doing a fast-paced archive crawl. Let me provide context for this page, hopefully to ease the confusion of others (and possibly myself next time I’m coming through. π )
This scene is still occurring during our “age 15 flashback” story arc. At this point in time, Ace only had a Guardian (a.k.a. shoulder angel), not a Motivator (a.k.a. shoulder devil).
One supposes that motivating children into sinful acts is a bit unfair… and they tend to be more impulsive all on their own anyway. It’s the adults who are burdened with inhibitions and hangups that are not always in their real best interest to remain hobbled by all of the time. More than a few of us have wanted to smack Ace upside the head for holding himself back so much around the ladies, haven’t we? π
Back to this page. This dude in the halo is apparently teenage Ace’s Guardian, whom we have never met before, so you’re not expected to recognize him. What we HAVE been told is that Ace went through three different Guardians prior to getting his adult G-M team (Spooky + Cleo) earlier in the comic, and that all three of those Guardians had stress-related breakdowns which necessitated their retirement/removal.
As we had been previously told, before Cleo got her new job as (adult) Ace’s Motivator, she was doing a more traditional succubus job of giving (multiple) people their occasional wet dreams, and she quite proudly stated that she was actually Ace’s very FIRST wet dream. That only-referenced event appears to have already happened at some point earlier than this story arc, but the reason she is back tonight is to give him another wet dream, as is her job (though it appears she likes her job more with some dreamers than others; she was not scheduled for tonight! π )
That should cover it. Hope it was helpful to someone.
