An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
Not really. There are many things that drive accountants nuts that most people never think of as a problem. One is the concept of Petty Cash, which your average person views as stuff you spend money on that you don’t bother to track. To an accountant, everything gets tracked and receipts are needed for every item paid for out of the Petty Cash account so you replenish Petty Cash.
God this. I was involved in the process of absorbing another truck dealership into the region I was the assistant accountant for, and the first time my boss was on the new site, someone came into the main office and asked for some petty cash. When he was asked why, his answer was ‘I want to get some fish and chips.’
It had to be explained to him that even though he was a department manager, he could only use petty cash for business related expenses, not because he felt peckish.
Even worse were the things a friend of my grandparents had to say about his clients. He was a chartered accountant who did the books for a number of small businesses, mainly independent shops. Apparently it was impossible to get the owners to understand that the cash in the till wasn’t theirs, it was the shop’s, and until they had banked it, processed it through the books and then paid themselves a salary, it wasn’t their personal funds. The usual response was ‘But it’s my shop, so it has to be my money.’
Wonder just what her accountant saw? Must have been spectacular.
