A cat will go to impressive lengths for a warm person upon which to sleep or tasty, crunchy fun of things like spicy fried pork rinds. Ace appears a good source of both.

I still have a pet theory that Mama Gibbs is an avatar for Bast. Think about it. Bast is the Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood. Gina can get to Ace’s chocolate no matter how well hidden and even if it is under lock and key. Now add the smugness she gives off when right or just happy. Gina is Bast.
If we’re both thinking about his astral trip to the afterlife offices, IIRC the main reason he “smelled so good” to astrals was that he was covered in the “scent” (or aura) of very satisfied lady.
…which also fits this current situation, of course.
