An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
Forgot about this one. Well, finally something I’ve got one up on Ace then! I could read when I was 2, and was reading a Stephen King book when I was 5.
Much the same with me. My mother was a schoolteacher. My reading comprehension level was so high, I pretty much sailed through school all the way through Jr. High, until high school classes when my grades started reflecting the actual effort I was putting in. Kind of had to step my game up a bit after that.
I was a late bloomer on reading, mostly due to astigmatism that was not diagnosed until mid way through 1st grade.
I did have a full adult library card by age 10, however – something about having read virtually every book in the “children’s section.” (Having a female sibling close in age, that included most of the non-horsey ‘girls’ books!)

I think I was reading Orson Scott Card at that age if memory serves.

We didn’t get the newspaper when I was that age, but we did have Reader’s Digest condensed books.
