Motivator for Ace has got to be one 9f the easiest jobs in the spectral world. He gets himself into more trouble without even trying that all the Motivator has to do is seat back and hope he can’t hear the laughter.
Actually, strictly speaking, neither of them is Ace’s Guardian or Motivator. They’re observers trying to figure out what the crap happened to his actual GM team. They’ve stepped into the vacant GM places so they can monitor him without (hopefully) being detected (Trey has no such advantage and has stated he can’t get close to Ace at all, despite his being the leader of this investigation.)
In other words, they’re not obligated to do any Guardianing, or Motivating. They’re here to gather information.
Wait, which one of those two is supposed to be the angel on his shoulder? o_O

Yeah, but similar dynamic.
The one wearing feathers is good, the one wearing hair is evil. Although by nature they both tend tward choatic nutral.
Technically Cleo explained it as the “angel” or Guardian is supposed to protect him by getting him to take the safe, known route, while the “devil” or Motivator gets him to take risks, try new things and grow as a person. Things seem to be less about good vs evil and more about Order and Chaos, or Security and Change.
