Well, the act of refraining from involving pushy, opinionated people when it’s none of their business sounds perfectly ethical to me. Meanwhile, out of everyone whose business this is, I don’t see anything happening that’s non-consenting, so I’m not seeing any problem.

No, ethical in Orion’s opinion. There was some question about his age of consent. Depending on how you interpreted it, he could be considered underaged. Consenting to be a gene donor is less questionable than having sex with him, since his part wouldn’t be anything he hadn’t already done.

This wouldn’t be the Orions’ “First for us” artificial insemination; that’s their standard means of propagation, along with using gestation tanks as artificial wombs. They’re very leanly built and comparatively frail from hundreds of generations of living in low gravity; giving birth organically is considered too dangerous for them even if they were prone to single births and not litters.
