In my mid 40’s I started having problems with swelling in my legs, when I lie in bed the swelling would move to my throat. The night I woke up unable to breathe, and it took more than a minute for the fluid to drain enough to take a breath was the last time I slept anywhere other than a recliner, except for hospital beds.
Recliners can be very comfortable to sleep on. Because of a leg loss the VA sent a hospital bed home with me. Even with the ability to incline bot the head and foot sections I can only sleep on it about 5-1/2 hours a night. The rest of my nightly sleep is in a recliner.
I’ve known old geriatric men who sleep that way.

Ool: I presume that you have had a good physical exam and proper work up since you first noticed that problem?
