That’d probably change anyone’s mind.
On the island of Oahu in Hawaii there is a cliff where King Kamehameha, who united the islands under his rule drove the remaining warriors resistant to his rule to their deaths. It is (or was when I lived on the island) a popular place to commit suicide. The winds there blow very strong and every once in a while they decide to life the person intending to fall to their death back up to the ledge of the cliffs and sets them down safely. It has been noted that these people do not seem to make a second attempt.
I’ve read that psychiatrists interviewing those who had tried to kill themselves by jumping and survived the fall resulted in pretty much a 100% ‘the moment I jumped, I wished I hadn’t.’
