There are lies, damn lies and statistics.
Our “Truth” is is based on what we BELIEVE to be true.
If our “input” is flawed (deliberately or otherwise), then we are truthfully reporting our current understanding of our “input”.
We truthfully believed that “Phlogiston” was involved in the phenomenon of Combustion, before we knew about the existence of Oxygen.
Before we split the atom, we truthfully believed that the atom was the smallest possible form of matter — then we discovered Electrons, Protons & Neutrons, & our “truth” was revised accordingly.
If we are fed plausible lies, then our actions are changed accordingly…
…but they are actions that were based upon what we understood at that time to be “the truth”.
