Elf?
Carver
Half-elf. My mother was a Drow; a Dark Elf. Part of the Fae Exodus. Tho I got my complexion from my father, a Black Orion.
Peach
When The Empire rediscovered Terra, about 250 T-Years ago, we made contact with The Fae. Most of them evacuated with us, but they mostly live apart from the Empire on their own ships. My grandparents gave them a good deal.
Carver
The Fae have extremely long lives, but equally low birth rates. And since Fae-Orion hybrids are always sterile, there aren’t very many of us. And most of them, like my sisters, are with The Exodus.
Peach
And they’ve never been popular with Orion Purists and Highborn, I’m ashamed to say.
Carver
As a Fae-Outer halfling, on my birth habitat, I was lucky to be allowed to clean up patient messes. Forget ever becoming a surgeon. I could reshape my ears, but I consider them and my Black Orion complexion to be points of honor. To show that an it-thing low-caste halfling Attendant Assistant can become the Chief Medic on a top-tier starship in one’s own right. I’m afraid I’ve been an influence on Stormy and Ace’s other daughters that way.
Peach
Those girls, Black Orion hybrids themselves, plan to become medics, too. I’ve never heard X raise a complaint.
Kimi
So you look so young? Like 14.
Carver
That’s natural for any hanyo. But try 64. Which, I admit, is still young for a half-elf.

Called it.
Elves living on starships. That’s the coolest weird concept I’ve heard since the colonization of Grayson.
IIRC, some of the later spinoffs of ElfQuest became sci-fi.
has someone played starjammer? do they have giant space hamsters?
“Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the eyes!!” 😀
Squeaky wheel get the kick!
Evil, meet my sword. SWORD. MEET. EVIL!
Ooo, potential cross-over with “Wapsi Square” confirmed? 😀
I’ll admit to being an avid fan…
Talk to Paul.
I don’t think I’d be up to the task. I can’t even keep up with myself.
You might consider requesting some guest strips from him. A crossover wouldn’t have to take multiple strips back and forth.
Space faring, intelligent, long-lived, pointy ears… Sounds like a Vulcan
More like Roddenberry’s Vulcans were partly inspired by fantasy elf-lore.
How come I have the feeling that in some future time frame every one of Ace’s daughter with X are going to be top flight surgeons
Something tells me Stormy will be an exception
Why? Chief Carver included Stormy, plus, have you forgotten how she said she would like to help Aunt Karen?
Stormy has expressly stated her intent to enter the medical field.
Granted, she’s 7 T-years old, and may well change her mind later, but there’s no cause to assume she’d be an exception.
On the subject of “Black Orions”… if they’re all taking “Greenies” (and we saw from X’s childhood they may not, or might not be starting that until they’re older… although Peach was already green…) …how exactly does ANYONE (even themselves) tell if they’re “black”, when the chlorophylizers have replaced nearly all their melanin with chlorophyll? Why would “being black” even be a thing if it’s more of a temporary childhood condition at best?
Not all questions need answers, but these seem interesting to me at the moment.
