There is a choice here. Let Jaz do what she wants, or do what Jaz wants. One of those means the beds won’t be pushed together.
(Ignore the pants color. I have to go back and fix a production error.)

Akane
Not … yet? Jaz-chan? You foresee?
Jaz
Relax, Girlfriend. Your virtue’s safe tonight. You know Ace won’t try anything.
I can behave, too, of course. I promise, even.
Akane
I do not distrust you, Jaz-chan. Or Ace-Dono. I…
Push beds together. One is not big enough for two Americans. I will take the floor. I am Japanese. I can be comfortable there.

Ashe
Ah. I’m sorry, but that can’t be permitted. The beds and covers are designed to hold occupants securely in the event of gravity loss or rough shaking.
However, my quarters in the next unit are identical, including a second bed. I would be honored if you would join me, Guardian Akane. We will be just a shout away if either of us are needed.
Akane
I mean no offense. But I am uncertain.
Ashe
Well, I promise to behave, too. This can work. There are things we might need to share that can’t be said in front of the Young Master.
Akane
I can share, but nothing of Ace-Dono.
Jaz
I got that covered.
---
Jaz
Ace, go to bed. I’ll join you in a bit.
Ace
I have a feeling I’m going to need to be well rested when you come back excited from gossipping.
Jaz
We’re on a spaceship, Ace. Full of hotties. I’m already excited that way. But gossip happens when it happens.

Hmmm … This is getting Interesting. (Again.)
Heh… Akane trusts Ace AND Jaz… But maybe not HERSELF? 😀
Well Akane, there you have it: Jaz gave you her word, your virtue’s safe…. tonight. But this could be a long stay on the ship, plus what happens after you all get home? Like I said last page, Jaz is a procog – of course see has foreseen.
Are all Orion women pretty much functionally bi? I mean I’m sure there are a high number of lesbians, and we know the Empress is in a hetero relationship so that’s a thing in Orion society, plus the large number of male prostitutes makes it clear that a good proportion of the female population is straight, but as most males are not in bond-couples, that leaves bond-couples as mostly female pairs. We already know that X and Peach get randy together on the regular and that X has an expressed preference for males, Ace in particular. So, lacking in data here but the conclusion can be drawn that as a society the body of Orion women is bisexual, but there is room for individual variations.
Well, considering the fact that they spend long periods of time in space where Orion males can’t travel, it makes sense that most of the crew are at the least functionally bisexual. Whether this is representative of the entire species or not is yet to be seen…
The fact that the overall ratio of fertile males to females seems to be way past the 3-1 mark. I think it’s a pretty safe bet.
I think it important to point out that the labels, bisexual, heterosexual, asexual, omnisexual, lesbian, gay, yada, yada, yada… are just that. Labels. Earth labels. The orions don’t seem to think that way, mostly. Physical attraction is genderless for them. It happens. Other considerations are equally important.
I remember when Ace was underage, and the mother of (some) of his children kept trying to give him a free feel.

Bond pairings are usually made up of females but there is no requirement for sexual intimacy. From what I’ve seen there are multiple ways Orion women enjoy intimacy with each other, some just having fun cuddled under blankets watching scary movies together.
Not all of them, but it’s understandable very common, for reasons others have mentioned already.
I’ll just point out Miss Columbia has stated previously she’s not really into girls sexually or romantically. So there’s one.
Akane can not leave Ace’s side, which means that Jaz will be the one to join Ashe
I think since she will be within shouting distance and must be in a bed, that she will accept this as a compromise. She has not been “by his side” every minute since his wounds from her stabbing (accidentally) of him.
