When taking tests, I knew the answer but couldn’t put it into writing. Like a complete block between mind and hand. Some faculty thought I was just being lazy and stupid (public schools amirite?) Till one of them FINALLY got the idea “what if we do oral tests?” They gave me the exact test I had just taken and scored below 40% on and there was only one or two things I couldn’t answer when taking it the second time.
The also aren’t good at matching learning styles to the student. I actually started tutoring math in 6th grade and managed to sort out a problem a younger student was having with subtraction until I used physical objects to connect to the numbers on the page.
