an auspicious point to have returned to the comic an hour or so before an update. just caught up with the backlog.
ok how many more copies of ace are there? lol he can almost be his own baseball team
Hex would make him number 6… So we skipped number 4 and 5 somewhere… 😀
I think we’re only missing Quint. We haven’t been given anything conclusive about Quad being the Orion’s Guide, but it’s been strongly implied.
I suppose we should all have been more suspicious he was named “Hex.” In my own defense, I was assuming it was magic-based, not number-based.
Now, of course, we can all start officially debating this one’s origins, whether a time-clone, a denizen of an alternate reality, or something even weirder (By this comic’s standards.)
Well, he did have a tail.
.
.
.
“Ace, Deuce, Tre, Quad, Tail”
This comic is going to end with “You and What Army?!?” “Yes.”
😀
“I heard there were vampires!”
“It’s been taken care of”
🙂
“What do you mean by that?!
“It’s been taken care of. And that’s all that matters.”
Make one little time skip backwards, and all Hel breaks loose (and I didn’t misspell Hell there).
How many Aces are there in this deck?
@[CardSharppie]:
However many it may be, it’s safe to say that this deck is well-stacked…
…& with more “Jokers” than most!
😉 … 🙂 … 😛 … 😀
with ace abd his chronal clones always choosing names meaning numbers, and with his computer skills, the name hex makes me think of hexadecimal, or base 16 number system used in programming computers in machine code, meaning a minimum of 16 versions
Hex is six, and deci is 10, that’s why hexadecimal means 16.
Is it just me or does this clone look a bit like Gina’s boyfriend? Which would be a little weird if it was.
Agreed – that was my first thought too, far more than an Ace clone
with some of time travel stories i have read, that would not even be more than a minor issue. in story “the man who folded himself” a man inherited a time machine from an uncle who passed away, nd eventually found he could only interact with different versions of himself, til he finally started having sexual affairs with both older and younger versions of himself, except when he went back several thousand years til he accidentally met female version of himself from another timeline. after a little time twisting they separated with a copy o their one child, altered by twists of time into the same sex as that parent. the male child ended up being raised and became the original man, and older version turned out to be uncle who raised him and then left him the time machine.
robert heinlein also wrote a short novel, where man was telling bartender about how he was born a girl, got pregnant as a teen by a man who seduced her then vanished, after giving birth dr found out she was a hermaphrodite and in order to save her life changed her into a man. the baby vanished, the man revealed he did not feel like he fit in anywhere. the bartender offered him a job where he would fit in, and first thing he had to do was seduce a certain woman. once he did, the bartender took him to a training academy for time agents. the bartender then went back in time, kidnapped the baby and left her where/when she would be adopted. he then reported in about the recruitment, and revealed that he had sent the man to seduce his younger female self, and that the baby girl was the child version of both of them, then final twist is that the bartender was the older version of the man, and had set up his own birth, and sex change and adoption, and recruitment as a time agent
i doubt ace is dating gina, but with lots of time travel, it might be one if his descendants

1)__My attempts to use the [Reply]-button are ignored by the system, I don’t know why. There’s no msg., or response of any kind.
2)__Heinlein’s 1958 short-story that [just me] mentions above is titled “All you Zombies”:
3)__Not only did that short-story expand upon themes that Heinlein had previously done before (“By His Bootstraps”), but it was also made into a 2014 Australian film, titled “Predestination”:
never heard of movie, predestination, but might good one to watch at least once,
you should find copy of other book, the man who folded himself.
@[just me]:
Yes, thanks, I got it long ago when it 1st came out in paperback.
Wait, does that mean ‘Ron’ is another Ace? o_O
@[Guesticus]:
Currently, that’s nothing more than audience speculation.
As for me, I don’t really see enough of a resemblance to go along with it.
Yes, the hair looks dark in this moonlit setting, but he lacks Ron’s mustache, & what little we see of his abs is more defined than any of the “Ace-Clones” that we’ve seen before.
Going-back to earlier pages, wherein Ace & Ron shared the same Panel, I think that we see enough difference in their appearance to debunk this theory.
It was bad joke, and a seriously creepy one, when you think about it
That depends on how many enemy planes Ron has shot down aerial combat. What do you mean that is a different sort of Ace?
ALSO:
For those who might want to find the 1973 story:
Actually he looks more related to Ace than another clone. The hair seems darker and in a different style (Kind of like his new cousin Earl who showed up not long ago).
…That might mean nothing.
Also he seems in better shape than Ace.
Although knowing this house so well to the extent that he knows there’s spare tracksuits in the pool house for use by guests strongly implied this is another Ace spinoff as well.
Re-reading these (thank you GreyWolf 😀 ), personally feel he looks more like Gabe than Ace (and yes, do remember how they are both using the same base-model)
