Luna:
We got to the Vet's office. And they studiously ignored us, but we found the cats and Akaneโs squirrel already for transport.
Ace:
Where is Akane? I thought she went with you.
Luna:
She was right behind me a moment ago.
Weird.
Akane:
I am ready.

So glad to see you posting again! Hope you’re doing better.
Hallelujah! Update! ๐
So, where is Akane’s sword? She had it in hand when teleported aboard. Or does she now have an upgrade?
If she can hide herself from everybody in a brightly lit room/corridor only a few feet away, she can hid her sword wherever she wants.
Now the question is if she’s Smoke Knight good, and if somebody tries to stab her, that’s actually a cardboard cutout.
@[Rypperdoc]:
Well, I can see your point, because claws don’t have the REACH of a sword…
…but most swords can’t slice thru STEEL, so there’s a trade-off.
No sword can slice thru steel. Kinda why ppl wore armour. And started using warhammers/picks to deal with it.
@[Sleel]:
I defer to the authority with the “Sword-Proof” icon.
๐
Whether a sword, or any edge, can cut into armor, or how deeply before getting stuck, depends very much on the quality and design of both the sword and the armor. That and the amount of force applied. The picks you mention are also made from steel, after all, just arranged differently to apply more force to a smaller area.
Traditional Japanese katanas have a unique trait, in the convex-shaped edge, like a wood-splitting axe, as opposed to a chopping axe. Where concave edged European swords would cut shallowly into a body (and even more shallowly into armor, if at all) become wedged in and often stuck, the Japanese blades’ “splitting edge” would sink into the body and keep going (sometimes going all the way through a body and out the other side, if it was a very well-made sword… and swung hard enough). They were similarly a bit more effective at splitting solid plate armor (with a very strong, very clean hit, at least) to a lesser degree than passing through unarmored flesh, of course. They weren’t likely to cut an armored man completely in half, but they could cut farther into the armor than their European counterpart swords.
“no sword can slice through steel”
I have seen a tanto (Japanese dagger) stabbed through a 70’s steel car door as a demonstration of how good a blade it was (an ad on TV). A katana would easily go all the way through a man in medieval plate mail (modern plate is a different matter, it should still puncture it though.)
While the information in the tangent is amusing, what I was trying to do was make a joking reference to Girl Genius. the “smoke knights” from there are essentially that world’s version of ninjas formed in Europe.
Of course, smoke knights are willing to use scarecrows too…:

What? No bunny ears?
Akane has learnt how to ‘adapt’ her shipsuit ๐
What if she’s been there the whole time?
What I mean is, perhaps she’s been trying-out some feature of her ship-suit, which (theoretically) employs a PREDATOR(tm)-style mode of “light-bending”, to hide her in plain sight?

POSSIBLE_RENDER_GLITCH:
In Panel_4, have Luna’s hands merged?
Akane needs to meet with Dina from Dumbing of Age to compare techniques for hiding in plain sight.
Panel three: Ace can see Akane, and he is lost for words (one of the few times he is stunned like that ๐ )
Also, look where Luna’s eyes are focused in panel four ๐
HMMm-m-m…
…if she’s not “boob”-focused…
…then Luna’s staring right thru the 4th_Wall at us!
What I’m wondering is if that pain in everyone’s backside countess has managed to sneak aboard their escape vessel? If so what are they going o do with her and her poor little servant girl?
