An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
Her “scars” are mentioned more than once, but in practice, all Andy’s managed to put on her face are a couple very vague smudges that could easily be mistaken for a slight shadow, if they’re noticed at all. That’s in the rare close-ups like this one. In a more common comic panel, they’re invisible in any practical sense.
A lot of times scars, especially ones from a traumatic event, are more mental than physical. They loom much larger in the mind of the individual than in reality. I had one scar that only a few people could see, but to me it was as visible as if it had neon pink dye. It stayed that way until I looked back at the event, found the issue (mental trauma) and dealt with the whole thing. Now I hardly see the scar at all.
Yeah, injuries may heal on the outside leaving barely a visible scar, butt they can remain unhealed and visible on the inside, until they do, as you did Greywolf, confront the underlying issue
Or they could be like mine. I was killed by a drunk driver who deliberately hit me from behind after making a U-turn to get on my side of the road, and when I rejoined the world of the living I had one working leg and one that resembled meat loaf with bones in it. The only reason I didn’t bleed out from the injury was because I was already dead for at least 2 minutes until after the EMTs tried to scrape me off the road and I told them that I had broken the upper end of my femur. Up until then I was minus pulse and respiration, and scared the bejeebers out of one of the people that first checked for a pulse.
The scar on my lower leg is about 8 or 9 inches long and four wide and resembles scales because of how they perforated the skin graft to make it cover more area. As recently as 6 years ago it was still so prominent that I tried to get a tattoo to either cover it up or integrate the scar into the design so as to make the scar a decoration rather than a constant reminder that someone hated me so much for my choice of transportation that murder seemed like a logical choice. Unfortunately the damage and scar tissue was such that a tattoo was impossible and ran every where. This year was the 18th anniversary of the wreck, and I’m gradually coming to terms with the changes it has made to my life. Still not happy with it because I had to give up a career in computer science and a side line as a performing artist. The aphasia put both of those to an end. I can still write a little because while I only have about 1% of my original vocabulary, 1 % of 300K is still more than most people have to work with. I still manage to get high scores on vocabulary tests because that 1% isn’t fixed and I sometimes get access to different chunks of my old vocabulary at odd times. That’s another scar that sometimes bothers me.
Actually he ended up dead. Driving drunk in a different vehicle he either hit a tree or telephone pole (two different people told me essentially the same story except for the immovable wooden object he destroyed his personal vehicle with) with a BAC% in excess of 0.30%. The tree or pole wasn’t as soft as I was and basically made them have to destroy the car to remove his corpse.
I have a scar on my forehead that I am aware of, but I have to tell people about it and then show it to them for them to notice. I also have a scar on my nose but even I can’t find it.
Related note, if you get skin damage that might scar, rub vitamin E on it and the scarring will be reduced and less visible. I bought vitamin E pills and used a pin to poke a hole in the capsule, then spread the pure liquid vitamin E on the skin, but I’m sure there are lotions and such too.
Use to use Avon’s nail care products (base and top coat polish), back when they still included formaldehyde
Mum ripped a huge piece of flesh on her leg once, resulting in ‘V’ shape about four inches long on two sides (after the doctor went to the trouble of stitching it up, a nurse came along and removed all the sutures and then told mum to go home), the polish still left a visible scar butt the flesh is smooth
Unfortunately, not only has Avon stopped using formaldehyde, they completely pulled out of the entire South Pacific region to concentrate on their UK market
The new nail polish (post formaldehyde-removal) is not as effective: have had problems with both heels (chilblain-related) that have not healed in over two years. The old polish would at least let the wounds heal until it got cold again, haven’t even been able to wear shoes for two years…

Gezus you guys… My original post was only about CG visual effects! O_o
I really hope that drunk driver ended up with prison time!
