Having entered the water, Pixie swam up behind Ace.
Carly tried to explain, "Uh, Pixie?"
"Just a minute," Pixie replied. "Hey Ace! Rocky says you might be able to fix my laptop."
"Maybe," said Ace, turning away.
"Hey," said Pixie, trying to turn Ace her way, "polite to look at a girl when she's talking to you."
"But you're naked," Ace complained.
"And you're gay," said Pixie. "So no bit deal."
"I'm not gay," said Ace.
"What?" asked Pixie.
"I'm not gay," said Ace.
Pixie screeched as she simultaneously tried to cover herself and force Ace's head under.

…they’re just not all that well-acquainted with each other.
She sees ’em not-so-much as “rules”, as more like … “suggestions”.

…& if she can get around ’em, then in her mind that means that they don’t really count.
