An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
That’s the thing that never made sense to me the first time through: Maddie slept with Jaz, intimately enough for Jaz to know that her hymen was broken, and yet that doesn’t count? o_O
Hymen can be broken lots of ways with as active as young girls are these days few still have an intact hymen by the time they have sex in any form. Jaz even says as much when they are talking about Maddie taking a turn with Ace. That being said, a large number of people (especially heterosexuals,) consider that you are a virgin until you have a make penetrate them vaginally with a penis. Not only does gay sex not count, neither do oral nor anal sex. Again I want to emphasize that this is not the way everyone views it. Most lifelong lesbians consider a penis to be irrelevant and count virginity lost in different ways. Some people count virginity as not having done a specific type of sex and may this lose their virginity a near infinite number of times (depending on how much imagination they have and how adventuersome they might be. When Jaz says when she started having sex, she separated with boys from with girls.
I recall reading in something by Heinlein (mumblety-mumble) years ago that the “correct” answer to the “Are you a virgin?” question at the Naval Academy many years before that was “Yes sir! In my left ear, sir!”
And inserting a finger deep enough to tell the hymen was still in place isn’t ‘penetrative’ enough? o_O
That means, a lifelong lesbian who has had many female partners, will still die a virgin?
There are also people whom think they lost the hymen when inserting tampons. I’ve heard horse riding blamed (if the horse throws the rider against a western saddle horn it could do some damage) gymnastics and some styles of dance are also belived to break the hymen. Personally I never really understood the “value” of marriage to a virgin and consider the whole matter to be one that each person needs to decide for themselves.
I used to link people a video from the show Adam Ruins Everything, their episode about sex and hymens, when this subject but I always had some issues with a couple wrong point (mixed in with several very excellent points) so I’m going to start linking the video where a qualified OB-GYN watches and responds to the video instead.
Virginity is kind of an outdated concept itself, and the even more outdated value of “marrying a virgin” had a lot to do with a lack of paternity tests, limited contraception options, and STD avoidance.
We have those things now. Go have fun!
Let’s retire the expression “lose one’s virginity” entirely, and replace it with the more accurate, “gain an experience”!

In short, there is no one view on the subject.

I recall from The Lost Comments that some consider the end of virginity to be penetrative sex.
And inserting a finger deep enough to tell the hymen was still in place isn’t ‘penetrative’ enough? o_O

Hymen, if present, is right at the opening. Never encountered one in real life myself.
If all it took was a finger to penetrate more than a few females lose their virginity at their first gynecological visit.
Or even before their first visit

Ace, why are you covering your ears? That “Third Base” was YOU, if you recall! ^_^
