Seems to me the only people with cause to complain are the ones that had to fill out all the paperwork.

Gina
Hey Kiddo! So what’s all this about stealing a satellite?
X
You know, Ace, it’s customary to ask the captain before using her ship to commit a felony.
Ace
Relax. The satellite I’m after is abandoned. The plan is it restore it to service and put it back. With an extra radio transceiver. Getting it accepted by its old network will be the hard part.
X
Why not put in a hypercom relay?
Ace
There’s an off chance someone will want to take a hands-on look at it someday. So we want to avoid any obvious extra terrestrial tech.
And I think whoever’s been destroying your relay pods has been using their hypercomms to do it.
Gina
As far as we know, that is those of us in the gate project, there isn’t any Earth nation that can even detect hyperspace signals without a captured relay pod. Much less have any idea who’s been destroying them. We thought the one pod we have was Grey tech, until we figured out it was Peach and company beaming people up. Greys don’t have transporters. Our pod should have been powered back down right after we were picked up.
Ace
No Earth nation, yes. So I’d look at extra-terrestrial influences operating within government agencies. Can’t be The K’Sel since they’ve all been evacuated, and they dropped the remains of their colony ship into the Marianas Trench. Greys maybe?
Gina
Grey relays do use practically the same telemetry as Orion pods.
Peach
Greys don’t have the tech. They use our pods. They think they’re stolen, but that just lets us keep tabs on them. But destroying all relay pods would negatively impact their activities, too.
Ace
The, uh, Varnir?
Peach
They’re still pissed off about Hello Kitty duct tape. They dropped all research into Terrans and left. Most remaining have gone native and abandoned tech entirely.
Ace
So, Mother. How certain are you that you got all of The Saurians?

Varnir? Hello Kitty duct tape? I sense a story there…
Yes, but you’ll have to search the archive to find it. Good luck.
All I’ve found searching for “Varnir” is the webnovel “Aelfhiem” you can access from the menu bar up top. Chapter 1 includes a character named “Mr. Varnir.” I haven’t read much of it, but it doesn’t seem like the same thing.
Ah, this time I think I remember: The Vanir are the wookie-like alien race whose occasional sightings on earth spawned the myths of sasquatch and Yetis. IIRC.
They’ve been references a few times now, but not shown on page.
Parents get upset when one of their kids has to have almost all of the fur on her entire body shaved… Poor kid had to wear clothing for weeks and developed a taste for princess costumes. Very disturbing.
Lady Banshee?
She’s still believed to be a briquette
No, we’ve had several scenes since of her inside her module ship (current time; 8 years later than her briquetting) hiding in the ocean somewhere, with Regina Alba (the body half, that replaced its head and remained loyal to Lady Banshee.) It took some years, (and Regina soaking her in blood) but she regenerated (but she looks a bit scalier now).
If I’m understanding it correctly, Regina and Alba ( the head and the body) are two seaparate entities. This is why Alba (who is the one at Lady B’s side) had to resort to the rather disturbing head with no “skin” on it. The only other available heads risked awakening to develop their own personalities.
Umm, where is Gina’s right hand? o_O
And what is up with Ace’s hair? He did that just to mess with the Orion’s hairdressing business, didn’t he 😛
Inside her hip, probably supposed to be in a pocket but that’ takes excessive time to do with molding software if you’re not going to be using it a lot.
Ace wants to make the area a clean room, so is using his shipsuit to cover his hair.
Gina’s hand is in her pocket and Ace is trying to make this room into a “clean room” (see previous page) so his hair is under a skullcap. ‘There’s an off chance someone will want to take a hands-on look at a satellite that will start working for no good reason someday’ so Ace doesn’t want to leave anything behind that will lead them back to either aliens or himself.
So umm, why don’t the ladies have their hair covered? o_O
Could understand maybe Peach and X, seeing how they are wearing wigs, butt Mama Gibbs don’t have no wig, she doesn’t even have a shipsuit
Would have been better just to have her hand on her hip
Because Ace only just told them this was what he was doing. (in the comic just before this one in fact). Only seconds of comic-time have passed.
If it was that important, then why not wait before spilling his plan? o_O
And if it wasn’t important, why even mention it?
One does not tell an Admiral and Captain that you want them out of a room on their ship, especially when you are a guest there. Cleaning the room to Clean Room standards will start after Ace has answered their questions.,
It’s “Mariana Trench” ’cause there’s just one. It’s “Marianas Islands” ’cause there’s more than one. 🙂
It just so happens that they’re also called The Mariana Islands. Marianas and Mariana are both used in both cases.
