I wouldn’t agree. A 90° twist between hips and shoulders is about the range for most young and reasonably healthy people who are not gymnasts or circus contortionists. I fit none of those categories and can still manage about 75-80° (that said, there’s a difference between “can stretch that far” and “this is a comfortable position to rest in”.) It shouldn’t make breathing much more difficult either (that’s more an issue when bending forward, compressing the respiratory system).
I would agree that the pose would look more natural if her hips were more level with the ground.
