Don’t worry. Prince Gilligan Peach-scion has long since reprogrammed shipsuits to account for longer hair…
Addendum (2/21/2018): The actual meaning the The Countess intends by “dirt” is, shall we say, well composted soil. Many Highborn refer to Terra as Ea Ar’Te, which also happens to mean “shit hole.”

«» In Highborn Orion (otherwise known as Classical Orion):
na-B’Lili:
«Shall I order you a meal, Countess K’Aya?»
Countess K’Aya:
«No, thank you, na-B’Lili. An antacid, rather. My stomach churns at this spectacle. The Captain has no sense of decorum. And the way they fawn over the Gibs clan... This time, our Mongrel Empress has gone too far, making Dirt Boy a noble. He was only in the right place at the right time. And it was his own meddling that led to the Serling Incident in the first place. I wouldn’t have him as a servant.»
na-B’Lili:
«I will only say that it is my honor to serve you.»
Countess K’Aya:
«Your service is appreciated, my First Hand. I don’t know why I’m venting, anyway. This is perfect. Not only can we be rid of this misshapen monstrosity of a ship, but we can make it appear that Dirt People are responsible. Eliminating the Heir Prime, her Outer partner, the Runaway Princess, 2 halfling Imperials, 3 golem abominations, and 4 Gibs is just extra sweetener in the bun. I feel sorry for Dirt Boy’s friends, but they’re just Terrans, and it will be quick.»
na-B’Lili:
«You will like this. An assault shuttle is being moved into the hanger bay to make a supply run to Ceres Base. If we join that mission, we can be well on our way to Ceres when the ship blows instead of waiting for rescue in a cramped lifepod.»
Countess K’Aya:
«That would be less awkward to explain. And our patsy in Engineering?»
na-B’Lili:
«She believes that what she is holding is a Birthtime gift for her Chief.»
Countess K’Aya:
«Good, good. Kill her as soon as it’s safe to do so. Hmm… Make it look like the other Dirt boy did it.»

I may be jumping the gun here, but I think she’s up to no good.
I think she’s making a determined bid for a Darwin – but probably won’t get it.
This “Lady” does not seem to have our regular cast’s best interests at heart.
Why use an assault shuttle for a supply run? Seems a freight shuttle would be a better type.
Of course, one might wonder who the assault shuttle is.
I am so hoping that “Assault shuttle” is Ruby Begonia
Ruby’s not a shuttle. I expect she’d find being called a shuttle offensive.
She’s a recon fighter.
I suspect that the countess is not one who keeps track of military nomenclature, Difference between “assault shuttle” and “recon fighter” might be vague and even overlap — see the history of the DC-3. From conversation, the lady doesn’t care much about AIs. Doesn’t seem to care much about humans either, whether Orion or earthborn.
Well, this explains the worried look on na-B’lili. “If this doesn’t work, I’m the one who’ll get punished the worst.”
Oh look. It’s a countess that is tired of trying to live up to her responsibilities and woman with more love than brains willing to help her retire.
Kind of an embarrassing way to resign from the nobility though.
hmmm, I wonder who’s gonna ruin her day first, Ace or Gina?
My guess says Gene Roddenberry, the ship’s AI, will defend itself.
Luna, obviously. Or Sky. Even odds.
On second thought, my money is on them doing a twin thing and nailing Creepy Countess together.
Gina won’t hold back. Ace has that sexist programming of “boys don’t hit girls”.
No, they don’t HIT them…
…but if hard-pressed, they’ve been known to set them on fire.
Actually, we still can’t be sure of B’Van’ Sidhe’s gender. Especially lately, since there seem to be 16384 human genders. Don’t assume gender. Birds dress funny.
I’m curious…
…since 16384 =2^14…
…are we to infer that there are 16384 “shades of grey”, on a single “sliding-scale”, or do you mean to describe 14 “either/or”-binary variables that all contribute to each defined gender…?
I picked the number “at random” of course. Yes, I picked a power of two to have fun with the seemingly infinite number of binary and non-binary “genders” folks claim lately. As I’m a CisHetMale with friends (and relatives) all over the place sexually. I mostly have one concern — M2F transexuals, you still have prostates, get them checked. Prostate cancer isn’t the slowest way to die, but it can be painful.
Except she suggested that Ace refer to her as “My Lady” which does indicate a gender.
She should consider herself lucky if she gets off with just being torched.
Any who threaten my nephew’s wives and children don’t get off that easy. They’ll be alive and smoldering while I’m running the backhoe. Any who _harm_ my kids, it might take a bit longer before I borrow the backhoe. I live and expect to die adhering to the Zero Aggression Principle, but some things I will not abide.
Does it still count as aggression if it’s strictly retaliatory?
There’s no question that it’s one thing if you’re ACTING, but what if you’re REACTING?
One of the dilemmas of being libertarian. Yes, I know revenge is wrong. No ongoing direct threat, what I would do would be aggression. I would be very ashamed as I paid whatever restitution the adjudicator required to the survivors of the asshole who threatened or harmed THOSE I LOVE. Call me a hypocrite, I’ll own it.
Sorry to have been unclear…
…I DID mean to say “retaliatory”, but NOT in the sense of “revenge”. I was thinking of “Defense of myself &/or my family”, & whether killing my attacker (to make them stop trying to kill me-&-mine) was still defined as “Aggression”?
At least you’re willing to accept the consequences after the fact. That’s a big one.
Wdg3rd, you are forgetting that the Grand Leader is female and he removed the head of Regina Alba. I don’t know that Ace is anymore adverse to hitting a female than a male. It is simply that violence is a last resort for if they don’t learn to not make foolish threats.
Can vaguely recall him mentioning that he is not adverse to hitting a female if the needs be, and if a female needs to be hit (yes, there are some who do) then they are no longer (if ever were) a ‘lady’ (fairly sure he was the one to mention that about not being a lady as well)
Luna, Mimi, Akane and Skye. Luna will put it all together, Skye will fix the tech troubles, Akane will ‘visit’ the Countess and Kimi will find a hog farm.
So much for the ‘no Orion’s kill other Orion’s’ truism from earlier comics.
There’s always someone…
It doesn’t consider them True Orion’s
I believe the comment was that Orions don’t tend to try to shoot each other. Committing murder is not exactly the same, and shooting requires that you have a gun in hand or near to hand. From the sounds of it, anyone apt to perform acts of violence are kept away from weapons of most sorts.
Speaking of Gina, does anyone have a link to the scene with the bright red sports car floating in space? I want to pair it against a re-creation of Elon Musk’s newest escapade! 🙂
Well in the carousel the ID is 2013-05-08-Hide-and-Seek The Image URL is https://i1.wp.com/www.tmi-comic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/2013-05-08-Hide-and-Seek.jpg
Hope that helps.
Thank you!
My ability to sound out oddly spelled words phonetically is not the greatest. Do the names K’Aya and na-B’Lili have any hidden meaning like Andy’s Banshee gag?
Kaya (kinda like ‘Sky-a’, or maybe ‘Kay-a’ depending how you pronounce things), ‘Nah-Bih-Lilly’ maybe (or maybe ‘NahB-Lilly’)
Hmm, was sure that was added as a reply to al mar
The closest I got to anything was sounding out “na-B’Lili” as ‘nobility’ – which would be quite a plot twist as the one so named is a handmaiden.
Ooo, hadn’t actually thought of that (obvious) pronounciation
Yeah, so if that’s it then “K’Aya” would be what now?
Depends on how you pronounce the first ‘A’
I’d wager they’re conversing in ‘high Orion’ in the hopes Gene doesn’t know it, i’d also wager they’re wrong.
They are conversing in ‘high Orion’ because Ms Snobby never deigned to learn the ‘common Orion’
The actual meaning the The Countess intends by “dirt” is, shall we say, well composted soil. Many Highborn refer to Terra as Ea Ar’Te, which also happens to mean “shit hole.”
Interesting, many Terrans use the same meaning 😛
