Ace you just got to quit rushing headlong into these situations.
Especially when he still can’t see well. Definitely not a good state to engage in a knife-fight in… also not having your own knife… also he’s supposed to be avoiding any vigorous activity. So much for that…
In Ace’s defense, his blurry vision probably kept him from noticing the (dark, non-shiny) knife.
Based on his history, his goal here was to restrain, not to fight.
You know, we’re told later that this is an accidental stabbing, that he basically rushed into the knife and surprised her, but from this (panel 3) it sure looks like she extended her arm to thrust into his ribs.
