Ace
Bruno, don’t tell me you just goaded that girl into punching you.
Bruno
I wouldn’t say goaded. But be sure to tell everyone I said she’s got a mean right hook.
Ace
I don’t know if I can be friends with a guy that hassles girls.
---
Bruno
It’s not like that. She’s been getting picked on. I could never beat those guys in a fight, but now they’ll know she’s willing to throw the first punch. And with my rep, she won’t get in trouble for socking me.
And now she also knows that at least one guy doesn’t find that birthmark repulsive.
Hey! How about you turn on the charm and apologize for your jerk friend. Be sure to drop that’s she’s actually pretty. And compliment her math skills. She’s proud of that.

That’s some pretty advanced strategy for a boy so young!
This may help to explain how Ace gets along so well with him — they’re 2 of a kind.
I’m amused to note that the left leg of Ace’s shorts has “merged” into the bench in both of the panels here.
“OTOH”, I’m perplexed to note that for my 1st comment on this page, the system had my [Name]-&-[Email] fields pre-filled for me, just like old times …
… but then promptly FORGOT them when I tried to post my NEXT entry, so I’m back to doing this entirely by-hand again.
Yeah, that’s a problem with working with 3D models: serious clipping issues
Bruno, the 4 dimentional chess creeper flirter with a heart of natzi gold inherited from his grandpa.
Bets on when a female mathematician with a birthmark shows up in the cast? I’d wager she’s already part of Gina’s team.
knowing how he thinks. that is a safe bet.
I hope not, I just replaced the core of the super computer trying to keep track of this comic’s relationships!
Hassels? Are we expecting Knight Rider?
(It’s “hassles”)
Not beating the ‘super woke kid’ trope to death or anything here, nope. Do their parents set them up for play dates with Rayne from LICD: Beginings and Xanthe from Sinfest? XD
When this chapter started, I thought it was to try to make him seem like less of a creep. Then the last part came, and now I dislike him even more.
Which part? The part where he let a girl, who was being picked on, punch him to show others she will defend herself?
Or the part where he got his friend to help her confidence by telling her she is pretty and to compliment her math skills?
Yeah, can totally see why you would dislike him even more
I like this kid.
He pays enough attention to know that she is proud of being smart.
Puts himself in the position of being punched to show other kids that she’s tough.
And then throws another kid in to tell the girl she’s pretty and smart so she feels better about herself.
He’s a smart kid.
And when he was older he saved his friend from firing him with that line about having a job and needing to quit.
He is VERY attentive.
He’s got promise if he can get past the “bad boy” act.
This has me wondering if all those other times he was being a ‘creep’ was for similar reasons
No matter how you look at it he still has a history of pushing the boundries of good taste with females. Remember he has made several receptionists uncomfortable enough that they quit a job with a company that seems to treat their employees with dignity. That is not a good thing, it is being a creep. While this does not mean that he isn’t sometimes also a stand up guy, neither action wipes out the other. It just means that Bruno is a complicated 3- D character written by a good storyteller.
Hmm! A “benevolent manipulator”!
It’s an interesting character type, that’s for sure! Would you classify that as “anti-hero” or “anti-villain”? Hmm…
