He did warn you, he said it was Luna’s favorite cake and she like things as spicy as Ace. Admittedly I don’t think I would have considered anyone putting peppers in a cake either.
Jaz may not have caught on that love of ultra-spicy food is a family trait.
IIRC, it was Carly who saw Luna’s face light up at finding Ace’s hot sauce and immediately exempted her from cooking duty.
A trick I used to use was adding a little cayenne pepper or garlic to my chocolate confections. Not enough to taste, but enough to stimulate the tongue. The stimulation makes the tongue tell the brain that the flavor is “more,” and since the nose is just reporting chocolate, you end up with a stronger chocolate flavor than you can get without the kicker.
But if you put in enough to taste it ruins the trick, so you have to be very careful.
My brother did up two batches of chocolates one year for Christmas: one ghost pepper and one habanero. I was only brave enough to do the habanero ones but they weren’t bad.

I’m told it is a very tasty combination. I’ve never gotten the nerve to try it though.
