An old house, a geek, a cute transvestite, a very tall lesbian, and at least one ghost–what could happen? – Adult situations and artistic nudity. Not suitable for children.
These sorts of scams actually predate the internet and used to just come via snail mail letters. Once in a while one shows up again. If you get one via the post office here in the USA e sure to turn it over to your local Postmaster. Such things are a federal felony and the US Postal Service takes a very dim view of them. Also never agree to travel to meet anyone as part of getting this money. Many who have tried have never been heard from again.
Actually had a snail mail one just last week. Apparently I’d won something in the Spanish Lottery. Clever for someone who lives in the UK, and hasn’t entered a lottery for probably two decades. Straight in the shredder…
You wonder why they’d bother… until you force the painful memory back into your head, that people like “Aunt Charity” really exist, with no exaggeration whatsoever.

Same here, and they used a name hadn’t used in nearly 20 years (legally changed it in ’94)

Same idea as the kid selling a million dollar apple. Even though most people will not buy it, all it takes is one who will.
This one is so old it predates the United States. Originally called the Spanish Prisoner Scam.
